The first wines are in for vintage 2020 and there are some impressive parcels so far.
It’s still early but here is a brief report so far on how it all panned out.
Spring was warm and dry however McLaren fared well recording close to its average rainfall for the season. Summer had a cool and wet start; however, December overall was incredibly dry and warm with the intense heat kicking in just prior to Xmas seeing the region produce some record-breaking temperatures.
January brought relief from the extreme temperatures with the region seeing cooler than average days and nights for the month.
Lower yields were reported overall with some impressive fruit being harvested across the region. Shiraz is looking particularly good at this stage.
