Set on four acres of gardens and vineyards, Geoff Merrill Wines finds its home at the historic Mount Hurtle site, an oasis in suburbia today operating as a working winery and cellar door.
Built in 1887 and one of the first wineries in the region, Geoff became custodian of the historic, but run-down Mount Hurtle in 1980, over years returning it to its former glory and creating a picturesque HQ for our winery and cellar door operations.

Terrace Hire
Includes
– Hire of our upper terrace space for your group booking up to 50 guests.
– Hire times between 12pm – 4:30pm.
– Long lunch style seating for groups up to 24 OR cocktail style. seating (mixture of barrels and low tables) for groups of up to 50.
– Access to our in-house speakers for terrace hires.
– No minimum spend requirements.
Lawns Hire
Includes
– Hire of our lawns for your group booking up to 50 guests.
– Hire times between 12pm – 4:30pm.
– Use of our picnic rugs if desired.
– 2 x barrels with optional umbrellas.
– Optional lawn games.
– No minimum spend requirements.
Optional extras
– Include cheese boards for your guests to share.
– Include roaming Flammekueche (flatbread pizza) for lunch.
– Beverage options including beverage tab and beverage packages.
No BYO food or drink with the exception of cake. Please notify us if you wish to bring a cake. Standard dietary requirements can be catered to.
In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, your booking can be transferred to our indoor cellar door space, additional charges may be required.

Please note the hire fee is non-refundable. In certain circumstances the hire fee can be transferred to a new date if required.

With our generous lawns, vine covered terrace and rustic cellar door, we have a wide range of family-friendly spaces for your next event.
Geoff Merrill has hosted first birthdays and 50ths, bridal and baby showers, anniversaries and social events. We have the flexibility to offer a range of event styles, from 20 people for an afternoon affair, to a catered lunch on the terrace. We have a variety of options for any occaision.
Spaces available for hire include our lovely vine covered terrace and/or our rustic indoor cellar door.
Weddings
Your dream day, styled by you.
Gently rolling between Cabernet Sauvignon vines and the picturesque dam, our sloping lawns are an idyllic setting for your ceremony.
Invite guests to a pre-ceremony drink on the terrace, wrapped in stone and vines.
Make use of our arbour, our lush setting for your photos, and get the dance floor started in our historic rustic cellar door.
We’re happy to host your ceremony, reception, or both. Choose between a small long table lunch, a cocktail affair, or a sit-down dinner, or whatever you can dream up. It’s your day, your way.
