“This exclusive, small batch range pay homage to the beautiful old vineyards that are the centrepiece of our home, the famous heritage listed Mount Hurtle winery. Established in the late 1800’s, Mount Hurtle has been our home since the early 1980’s.” – Geoff Merrill
The colour is a dark blood red with ruby red hues and great density and depth. On the nose, blackberry, black olive and dark chocolate notes come through first, then earth, toasty oak, spiced meats and soy.
The palate shows clean bright fruit, fine grippy tannins and defined acidity. A touch of game and savoury meat complexity is beginning to show, hinting at this wines interesting future.
“Drink now to 2028 with wagyu beef, steak and kidney pie, slow cooked beef cheek, lamb shanks and Angas Beef burgers.”
